Do you need nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) contact hours or continuing education (CE) for certification? Is your organization accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and you need to fulfill the annual CE requirement?  ONS can help! We offer a variety of activities that provide NCPD contact hours – many of which are free to ONS members and some that are free for anyone with an ONS.org account.

  • Articles in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON) offer NCPD contact hours. A new issue is published every other month with several articles offering NCPD contact hours after reading the article and completing a brief evaluation online. CJON subscription and NCPD contact hours are included as part of ONS membership.  Non-members can redeem CJON NCPD contact hours for a nominal fee.
  • The Oncology Nursing Podcast releases new episodes each week on a variety of oncology-related topics and are free to members and non-members. Topics range from patient care to advocacy to wellbeing. NCPD contact hours range from 0.5 to 1.0 CE. Review the episode notes of an individual episode to find the NCPD allotment and the evaluation link to redeem credit. Podcasts may be accessed through the ONS website or on Amazon MusicApple PodcastsGoogle Podcasts, and Spotify.
  • Most courses offered by ONS have NCPD contact hours. Some courses are free or have a reduced fee for ONS members; a few courses are free for all nurses (members and non-members). Courses may be accessed through the ONS website.
  • ONCC compiles the Big List of Free CE. This can be accessed on the ONCC.org website.
  • ONS Weekly Update is an email sent out each week with updates and information on the most recent ONS offerings. If you do not have an ONS membership or a free ONS.org account, you can sign up to receive the weekly updates.
