The administration of medications is handled at the state level by the state’s Board of Nursing. Clinicians should reference their state’s board of nursing to determine if these professionals are permitted to administer these agents under the scope of their license/certification.
While ONS is not a governing or regulatory body, it is the position of ONS that antineoplastic administration be reserved for clinicians with a minimum of a registered nurse license. Additionally, this RN should have completed a competency validation under the auspices of the institution.
